Topic: RE: State of TN employees
I was told by my surgeons insurance coordinator the 2011 insurance plans will cover bariatrics.  However...the State is selling them to us as 'the same' and we just need to look at providers, and decide which one we want.  My surgeon has a $3000 program fee.  My United Healthcare (current ins) pays $1500 of that.  My coordinator called last week to let me know Cigna will pay the program fee 100%, and BCBS pays nothing toward this fee.  So choose carefully and GOOD LUCK.  This lack of ability to provide information seems so unfair.

I was submitted to insurance Friday...so hopefully I can have the surgery this year, and not get wrapped up in all that next year......

I second Susan. Great results with Dr. Wagstrom. Always get a few different quotes/opinions and find a surgeon you are most comfortable with. I visited 3 before deciding on Dr. Wagstrom.

Thank you for the info, I will give them a call tomorrow. I know it will take a while to get my records sent up from FL, but really hoping to have an adjustment before the end of the month.

Centennial in Nashville takes on WLS "orphans".  Sorry; I have no idea about prices.  So many docs won't take on other doc's patients, but I know of two people who have had the band at other places and now see Dr. Houston.  Give his office a call @ (615) 342-5820.

Topic: Banded in Florida, now live in TN
Help... I now live in Westmoreland, i have had my band since 6/09/09 and I have not had a fill in a year since I lost my health insurance. I have now officially only lost 10 lbs in that year, and I really need a fill. I was down a total of 20 lbs, but have slowly put 10 back on.
Can anyone suggest where i can recieve a fill without it costing me an arm and a leg as I just don't have it.

I am down a total of 55 since receiving my band, but am very upset that I can not have it work to its fullest potential since I could not afford a fill once I lost my insurance.

HELP!!!

Annie
Have had lapband for 3 years, ready for it to be gone... Just like my ex husband and I did, we are getting a divorce.

My response was to the OP who stated she just couldn't bring herself to eat those "bad foods" anymore.

Thank you!

I was not saying fresh fruit and peanut butter are unhealthy, I was making a point that the dietitians are there to help with both weight loss and weight gain in a healthy manner.

I have called both Cigna, BCBS, ParTNers for Health, and the dept that handles insurance at the state (can't remember what that office is called).  They have all told me bariatrics will be covered.  BCBS requires a 10 % weight loss during the medically supervised diet and Cigna does not.  I am so thrilled!  It is an answer to a prayer.  I've already started the medically supervised weight loss w/my dr.  I will have insurance for this in January and January will be my last month with my dr, so I'm hoping by February I will be good to go!!!
