Hopefully Merry Mary comes by and can answer this for you. She had a lapband and had it revised to the DS with Dr. Houston. I am not sure if she had insurance or what she had to do for it but you should research all of the other WLS options and determine which would be best for you. If the lapband did not work then restriction only should rule out the sleeve. I would then research RNY and DS - now I am a little biased toward the DS but it has helped me loose over 300 pounds and at almost 2 years out - I love it more and more everyday.

Topic: LapBand revisions?
Anyone had a lapband revision? What was it revised to? What kind of insurance requirements did you face? I had lapband surgery almost 4 years ago. I had lost at one point 110 pounds, but I have gained back 50 pounds and have trouble with keeping my food down and severe acid reflux. I've had my band loosened twice because of this, but I still keep having problems with keeping food down BUT I'm gaining weight! I'm so depressed.

I just had surgery at 100 oaks last Tuesday. Dr. Williams is my doctor. I would not go anywhere else. This staff is wonderful and is there for anything you need. I encourage you to attend a seminar is you have not done so and to also attend the support group class that is available on Wednesday's at the Clinic at 1:30pm. There will be several people there that can answer any non-medical questions you have. We just have the save the medical questions for the doctors and staff. Looking forward to seeing you.

Topic: 1 week out
Just wanted to drop in and let everyone know that I had my 1 week check up with the doctor and nutritionist today. First and foremost, I am doing much better. I feel great and am ready to take on the world. However, I know that I need to take it slow and pay close attention to everything going on.
The doctor office said everything look well and to just keep it up. I love the staff at Vanderbilt Surgical Weight Loss Clinic. They are truly amazing and supportive.
Okay, now on the the more exciting news. When I weighed in at my pre-op visit 3 weeks prior to surgery, I was 302. I weighed in today at 285.5 lbs. That is a loss of 16.5 lbs basically in 4 weeks. I am trying to only use the scale at the doctors office since that is the one that is being used as the official weight. Therefore, when I weighed on surgery day (this was not the usually scale) I weighed in at 296.5. That could be true since I only have liquids the day before surgery. Regardless, I am officially down 39.5 lbs from my highest weight in June of 2009.
Thanks again for all the support and prayers. I look forward to posting the future about my progress.
