Back From the Doctors Office
Well, as I posted last night, I had to go back to my doc because of some bad lab reports. Well, it was pretty bad. I now have type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, my liver panel is out of whack and i now have thyroid trouble! I was given a glucose monitor and put on synthroid and metaformin. She was trying her best to find a bright side to things to make me feel better. She said " well all of these comorbidities will greatly improve your chances of having WLS" At least SOMETHING good might come from all of this mess. I am still trying to sort out my feelings but it wasnt half as bad as hearing that i had MS. Thank you for you prayers and support.
Hi sweetie, I know it sounds like a lot just hit you, but you will get thru this small hurdle. A little hint about the Metaformin. Take it at bedtime. Reason is if you take it during the day, it goes right into your digestive tract and not in the blood. At night you aren't moving around as much, so it gets in the blood to do the job it's supposed to do and that's to control your diabeties. Just know that after surgery, you won't have to take it again. I was only on mine for one year. My sugar is staying in normal, I still have to monitor it when I remember, but I've had no problems with it since surgery. I don't know what type of insurance you have, but I have medicare and medicare will pay for one eye exam a year 100%. Be sure to have your eyes examined because diabeties can and will affect your eyes. Even after my surgery, I will always be a diabetic, I just no longer have it controling me, I control it. I can have regular sugar at times and it doesn't affect my diabeties in any way.
Know this, you are in my prayers and thoughts. Love ya, Kathy
Ms.Me hang in there.. most of what the tests found will be greatly reduced and even disappear after surgery!!! you will be much healthier and happier take everything one day at a time and smile every day knowing you are doing something for your self!! Fnd joy in your son and the great life ahead for you keep your chin up Arianna
I'm sorry to hear you had a bad report from the doc. Since you are pre-op, it might be a good idea to do some research on the DS. The procedure eliminates type II diabetes. The majority of individuals with type II diabetes who had DS that I know were off all diabetes meds within a very short time after the DS.
I had the gastric rny and I haven't had to take any medications for my diabeties since january 7, and surgery was on the 9th. Once you start losing weight the better control you will have. You will always be considered a diabetic, you just won't have to take your meds for it. Just monitor it, and remember this surgery is a tool to a healthier you, and you can do it. I have faith in you.
May God travel with you on your journey to a new you. Love Kathy
