Please help me find an employer whose insurance covers gastric bypass
:-(My current employee health insurance does not have ANY benefits for WLS. I am desperate to have this surgery but can't afford the 30K out of pocket. I would really appreciate any help with employers that has insurance that covers WLS. I have experience working in a call center atmosphere or medical billing office. Please respond and give me some clue as to where to submit my resume. Thank you, Jason
Hey neighbor!
I work for the state. You can look for jobs at www.tn.gov click employment and that gives you all the information you need to know to apply for a state job.
Good luck!

Hi Jason. I just wanted to give you another option. If you want to stay at your current job, you can consider or look into signing up for a short time individual insurance plan that covers the surgery. It would probably cost you between $75 and $200 a month depending on which company you go with but if it was a short time plan just for a few months until you can get approved and have the surgery, it could be worth it. You should check out the web sites for Humana or Blue Cross Blue Shield or a couple other insurance companies. They allow you to sign up for individual plans. Just read the coverage info and restrictions to make sure you choose the plan that does cover this.

I agree with April. Check the State of Tennessee website. http://www.ja.state.tn.us/personnel/JobSearch/JobSearch.jsp
I work for the Department of Health and when our insurance was BC/BS last year, all I paid was the $100 outpatient co-pay. Talk about a bargain. But I had to really work for it through the approvals process. The insurance changed from BC/BS to Cigna at the first of the year for Middle Tennessee. Other areas in the state have different insurance choices.
Good Luck!!
