Hey Everyone, I hope you all are doing well. I just wanted to say hi!!! I'm getting so excited for my upcoming surgery. I will admit that everytime I eat something yummy ( chinese food for dinner tonight, or my favorite cookie dough ice cream ) I think, will this be my last time eating this?!! I start liquids in eight days, so I guess it really could be!!! On friday I got a call from Vanderbilt, they asked me to be a part of a research study that they are doing with wls patients. I really like that Vandy is a research hospital, and hey, someone has to do this stuff, or how would we advance right?? But it was way more than I could handle. They are testing to see if removing a layer of fat over the abdomenon helps increase weight loss, and also what are the difference between wls in blacks and whites, as well as the affect of insolin in the body. lol, Yeah really so theres a lot going on there, and more pain that I am not willing to indur for the sake of science!!! Are any of you other Vandy people taking part in this? Anyway, luv ya'll!!!! Jacqueline

I'm glad you're excited. It will be here quickly. Vandy does sound a bit much or pushing the envelope. Belly fat is supposed to be bad fat but removing it? Well, it wasn't that many years ago I wouldn't have considered the surgery and I'm doing great. Keep us informed and have a blessed day. Beth B. in Chattanooga

Hi Jacqueline! Most post-ops I've spoken to say that they can eventually eat some of their favorites within moderation of course...as for the cookie dough ice cream, you might have to find that in a sugar free version lol not as tasty. I have been wanting my favorite chinese dish but am too scared to try it. I start solid foods today but I am not pushing it. It's so great that we, as nashvillians, have a great hospital such as Vandy in our backyard. I wonder how their research results will turn out. I don't know how anyone could endure two procedures like that at once. I can only imagine the pain. How would they remove a layer of fat? Liposuction?? Anyways, I want to wish you the best of luck! Enjoy your "last" foods april
