new great nephew & sad anniversary
I got out of a seminar this morning and had 4 messages letting me know that my niece was in labor. Since my sister (her mom) lives in Iowa and is in school, she couldn't be here for the birth so I am surrogate momma. I headed out from Cool Springs to Clarksville hoping to make it before "he-man" made his grand entrance. After 2 hours of pushing they determined he was stuck and proceded to do a c-section. Mother, baby & daddy are fine. The little critter has a 17" head and was trying to come out face up.
Anyway, he is such a cutie. I kept calling my sister with updates to try and keep her calm and then to let her know that everything and everybody was okay. This is her first grandchild.
The sad anniversary is that Tuesday, April 25th would have been my grandson's 3rd birthday. He was born prematurely and passed away the next day. I have no other biological grandchildren.
When I was looking for the room my niece was in today, I saw a door with the sign they use to notify hospital staff that the mother is dealing with the death of her infant. If you are ever on a maternity ward and see a door with a picture of an Autumn leaf with a dew drop on it, it means the room is in mourning. Please say a special prayer for these families.
I have had such an overwhelming flood of emotions today. I still grieve the loss of my grandson. My daughter had to be rushed in for an emergency c-section to try and give him a chance and I still remember the fear I felt for my daughter as well as her baby. At the same time, I am so happy for my niece and my sister.
Eating today has been a challenge to say the least. The seminar included lunch and then I was at the hospital until 7:30. I stopped and got a McDonald's cheeseburger and ate almost 1/2 of the patty during the drive home. Not the best dinner choice but the best I could find under the cir****tances. I did have my protein shake this morning and had thrown a protein bar into my bag before I left the house so I did have that between lunch & McDonald's and I did get my water in. I have not had all of my vitamins though. I don't guess one day will really hurt me.
