I am new to this site and have been looking for a good place to meet others going through the WLS. I am really interested in meetings and maybe finding someone to workout with. I am at the end of my 6 month diet and getting ready to resubmit to INS. Hoping they don't find something else that I have to do prior to surgery. I'm so tired of hurting all the time and not being able to do much of anything. I would like to think I use to be more outgoing than I am now. All I seem to do is keep to myself. I don't like to go out with friends. Usually because i'm always tired. Anyway if there is anyone in the robertson county or nashville area that can help me out I would greatly appreciate it!!! Thanks

HI Rose! I live in Springfield. My paperwork is at the insurance company being reviewed. I called today to see if a decision had been made...no decision yet but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed. Where do you workout at? I've been trying to go to the YMCA after work. I don't know many people in the area, except family. I moved here after college graduation. I saw a sign in the springfield Hollywood Video window about a local support group. I didn't have a pen to write down the information though. What hospital are you hoping to have surgery at? I'm sure they have support group you can attend. Hope thats helpful! Good luck! April

Thanks for the reply!! I am not working out anywhere right now. I thought about curves over by belks but too shy to join so far. I thought about joining the YMCA but they are always soooo packed. I started my surgery quest while living in GA and plan on staying w/that surgeon he is sooo great. So when I get approved I will be having it in Gainesville Ga. Well I'm hoping I find a support group or just someone who is like me to talk to. Thanks again!!

Hey Rose, I just wanted to let you know that the YMCA has a water aerobics class that is never packed. I have the same feeling as you. I hate going in when there are a gazillion cars in the parking lot. So, I try to do the 6 p.m. water aerobics mon.-thurs. and then do the treadmill and weights friday-sun. since it isn't as busy then. It isn't that bad when I do this though I am horribly self-conscious in a bathing suit. But I'm trying to beat it into my head that most of the people that go workout aren't there to oogle and make fun, but to become/stay healthy themselves. I can tell you that I did the 2 week free membership at Curves in Springfield and got nothing out of it. The machines there were too small for my butt and legs. It was somewhat painful but I went faithfully for two weeks and didn't lose an ounce..though I didn't gain. But thats just my experience, others swear by the place. If you want to get together or talk, just let me know! You can email me at [email protected]

Hi Rose. Welcome to TN. I live in White House (Robertson County). That is North of Nashville. It is close to April in Springfield. I normally work out at home and also walk around my neighborhood. There are many of us around the Nashville area, we should all try to get together from time to time as a support group. That might be fun! Also, all of the major hospitals in Nashville have support groups that you could attend regardless of having surgery there or not. For example, Vanderbilt. Try this web site. http://www.mc.vanderbilt.edu/root/vumc.php?site=bariatric&doc=4523 Keep us updated on your progress and status of your surgery. Misty
