Just found out my liver emzymes are 4 times the amount they should be.....the surgeon said he could still do surgery, it would just be riskier as my liver is so swollen!!!! He said if anesthesia is okay with it, then it is a go......I am on day 3 of carnation breakfast drink and have lost 4 pounds, will this shrink my liver and lower my enzymes???????? I had just gotten comfortable with the surgery and all it entails and now I have to worry about anesthesia problems........ Please pray for me.

Mine was swollen, plus they had to battle the fact that my potassium was in critical. Don't fret, just keep contentrating on what you are to do before surgery. As long as the sleep Dr. is okay with it, the surgeon will do your surgery. Losing weight prior helps shrink the liver. That's why liquids are required. Take one day at a time and don't worry about things you have no control over, ask God to worry about it, He will. If the surgery has to be post-poned, that will be okay too, better safe then sorry. Dr. Colquitt is an excellant Dr. and he's cautious too. You have support and prayers on this board coming your way. Try getting in some broth from Chicken noodle soup, not the noodles. That will also help bring your liver down and trust me, you will be fine. I'm here for you as well as the board. Always, Kathy

Thank you for your reassurance......i have been reading up on high liver enyzmes and it appears that this is very common in obese people.....why then did he make a big deal of it.......I don't understand why it is so high because I have lost 20 pounds since Christmas....you would have thought it would have shrunk it.......but i'm no doctor.....
