It all depends on who your surgeon and nutrionist is. Mine had me on liquids for three weeks. Then soft foods which didn't settle with my stomach very well. So I have had to put some soft and some hard foods together. Mainly I was on broth, sugar free jello, and apple juice in the mornings, water the rest of the day, don't forget your chewable vitamin, and eat foods after your liquid time that has protein in it like cottage cheese. Always remember to eat your protein food first, then anything else after that. By the time I would eat 3 bites of my protein, then there was no room for anything else. I still have problems keeping things down, I either drink to fast, or don't chew it up real good, and then it comes right back up. I can wish you the best of luck. Kathy

Right after surgery it was liquid only for the first 3 weeks. I probably lasted about 2 weeks honestly. Water, crystal light, S/F popsicles, and broth. The next 2-3 weeks were pureed food only. Blended Wendy's chili - might be too much for some - as in spicy on a new pouch. Creme soups blended, some yogurt - made me a bit sick at first. Anything we could blend, we tried. (Hubby and I had surgery together). AFter that we moved to soft foods. Tuna became a big favorite of mine. Good protien and soft. Protien supplements began - 3x day. Really GOOD cuts of meat - lots of marbling in beef - tiny portions and then chew, chew, chew, then chew some more. Worked for us. Cheddar cheese worked also. AFter that we just began to try different items and see how they sat for about 10-15 minutes before trying more. Now at almost 2 years out - we eat pretty much what everyone else eats. Just smaller portions a bit more frequently. The guys at work tease me about how often I eat - and they believe that I eat more than them. HA! not really possible. I can have some sugar - but still try to keep it below 6 grams per meal. Occasionally I'll go over, but I'll pay for it too. I'm very sugar sensitve. Hope this helps! Leah 305/150/145
