Hi everyone. I just thought I'd introduce myself. I think I posted a few times on this board last year, but eventually stopped coming to the site altogether when I got discouraged.
My name is Kelly. I'm 26 years old. Married with 2 little boys. We live in Oak Ridge. I'm trying to get approved for the lap band surgery currently. Insurance is not budging as of yet. I plan to send a letter soon. If you want, you can check out my profile for more info on me.
Oh..and btw? Can someone tell me how to change the main picture for my postings? It keeps showing an old pic of me that I want deleted, but when I go into my profile, it's not there. Thanks!

Kelly, first to change your pic, at the top of the page is photo tab, click on that and follow the directions. Who are you looking at to do your surgery? Some insurance companies won't go with the lap band but with the gastric bypass. Check with your policy or call them. I'm 6 weeks out post-op and I had gastric, I wanted to lose it faster then 1-2 pounds on the lap band, and I wanted it to be permanent, I have no regrets. Already dropping weight, went from 26/28 pants to 22. From 3x to 1-2x. I would get very discouraged with the lap band. I want it off now not a year or two longer. But check with your insurance they may have a clause regarding lap bands vs, gastric bypass. One girl wanted the gastric and her insurance would only pay for the lapband. That's fine if you don't have a ton of weight to lose, but when you're looking at 300+ lbs to lose, the lap band is not for those people. Another only paid for the gastric, not the lap band. Each is different, so check on what your insurance will pay for, and what their requirements are. I would get ready to do a 6 month Dr. supervised diet and weigh-in, 99% of the insurance companies have that requiredment. Best of luck and keep your chin up, it's worth all this just to get healthier.
