I was wondering has anyone else ever did a few days of liquids, protiens to kickstart your weight loss when it has slowed down? I started doing just protien shakes and liquids 4 days ago and have lost 10 pounds. My surgeon recommends doing it for 5-7 days. So far I feel great, not even really hungry. Of course, in place of a meal I am doing a protien shake. I drink mine hot with splenda, tastes just like hot chocolate. I am seriously thinking of continuing this a few days past that 5-7 day mark. I have heard of people doing liquid diets for 14 days before a lap surgery. I had open so I didn't do liquids before my surgery. What do u all think? As long as I am feeling good, energized, it shouldn't hurt anything, right? Ange 313-165-150? P.S. I am still taking my prisolec, vitamins, calcium, iron, and supplements (zinc and biotin for my hair loss, my surgeon knows I take zinc and biotin, I always ask before starting any new meds of any kind.)

HI Angela, I didn't have to do any liquids prior to surgery even though I had a fatty liver. I had the Lap RNY gastric in Jan. I was on liquids for 3 weeks after surgery and it didn't bother me, soft foods for me won't stay down, but I have managed some hard foods and no problems. I think I am going back to some liquids for a while. My insides are to irratated from throwing up or having diarreha. None is from the surgery, but from my potassium being too low. Can't get it up as the food that is soft and has a lot of potassium won't stay down. Not even potassium pills or the liquid drinks. Do what makes you feel good and helps you lose your weight. Best of luck Kathy
