Hello everyone! I'm new to the group. I have applied for the Lap RNY and now I'm just awaiting the response. I have been researching this procedure for about a year and a half. I have a great support system at work as 10 of my co-workers had WLS over 2 years ago. 5 had the procedure at Vanderbilt and the other 5 at Centennial. Most of them are doing great. I am married and I have 2 children ages 5 and 1. I am so ready to live LIFE with my family. My weight has been an issue for me all of my life. I can lose weight but it never stays off. I am tired of yo-yo ing. I have been on on Phentermine twice, Medifast once, Trimspa, Dexatrim, Slim Fast, Weigh****chers...ZETACAPS (supposedly the gastric bypass pill). You name it..I've tried it. And I'm tired of trying new pills. Yes Phentermine works...but it's not designed for you to stay on it forever. I need a permanent solution. When I was thinner...i enjoyed working out and eating healthy...I look forward to that motivation again.

Hi Toi! I'm hoping to have surgery at Centennial as well. I haven't chosen a surgeon yet though. They have all the paperwork and suppose to be sending to insurance today. At least that is what I've been told. They've had everything for almost two weeks. I emailed them Wednesday to ask very nicely (I hate to be bothersome) what the status of my paperwork was. I found out they're short staffed at the moment and a little backed up on paperwork. Welcome to the board! There are some great supportive people here. Keep us posted on your progress! April

Toi, welcome, I am thrilled for you. I have my lap gastric bypass on Jan 9 and I have no regrets about it, I've lost 15.5" and 30 pounds at my first Dr. visit. It's the best thing Ihave done for myself and it over rides the ex husbands. I am on chemo for leukemia, but I have bundles of energy, no longer confined to a power wheelchair. You will love your new life. I wish you the best. Love Kathy
