It's Official, it's Leukemia

The lab report came back. My blood white cell count is 38,800 normal is under 11,000. It's eating up my red cells. My immune system is low. I have to start wearing a mask when around Dr.'s office's, any place where there's a lot of people, that way I don't get sick. In 2 weeks I will be going to the Baptist hospital in Knoxville to have some marrow drawn from my hip. Then the Dr. will need to draw more marrow and some tissue from my back to see how fast the disease is progressing. The good side is I am attending the seminar tomorrow evening for Dr. Colquitt. I will be finishing the registration on line, so that will be done, and I can get my second consult. Please keep me in your prayers. Anyone who thinks it's hopeless to have their surgery and has to fight with the insurance companies, or is discouraged. Don't you dare give up. I'm not and I've been fighting for over 2 years for the chance. I'll keep you posted. Love Kathy

Kathy, Be absolutely CERTAIN that the surgeon you are seeing is aware of this current diagnosis/pending diagnosis. You will need to have extreme measures in places in order to avoid potential infections resulting from surgery and the OR team and surgeon need to be very aware. Good luck.
