Hello to my Fellow Tennesseans
,
I am new to this particular message board on ObesityHelp and just wanted all of those in TN to Pray for me as I was recently approved and scheduled for surgery. Dr. McGraff-Weaver is my surgeon. If there is anyone out there who has had surgery and she was the surgeon give me some insight on what to expect. I am scheduled 6/20, and I am officially now counting down.
This is truly a wild ride

Hello Enhanced 1...
Dr. Weaver did Lap RNY on me 02-11-04. She is absolutely wonderful! My surgery lasted about 2 hours.... a little longer than usual because my liver was so big. You will certainly be in good hands! She did a wonderful job... She didn't even have me do a swallow test the next day.
I got to the hospital (St. Francis) at around 6:00 a.m. and did not go into surgery until noonish. About a hour before being taken into surgery, I was taken to an area where I was given some medication to calm me down a bit and I met with the anesthesiologist. Dr. Weaver came by to speak with me also and to put to rest any fears I had.
She has a special surgery room where she does her laproscopic surgeries. If I remember correctly, there were huge monitors above me instead of a big, bright light like I was expecting. I was really surprised by how the room looked. I was expecting to see a bright room with tiled walls. Instead, there were painted cabinets and huge monitors. She was there, waiting for me and the rest of the surgery team. She is so upbeat and positive!
They put me to sleep before they did anything. I don't remember a thing until waking up briefly in recovery. I was not sore in the least bit. I did not fully wake up until the next morning, when the nurses aide came in and bathed me and changed my bed. I could not make myself wake up until she came in.... she was damned and determined that I was going to wake up! And she did a good job of it! (anaesthesia is rough on me!)
The day after surgery, Dr. Weaver ordered pureed food for me.
I wish you the best. Please be assured, you could not have asked for a better surgeon. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. If you want to know anything else, e-mail me. I'll try to answer any specific questions you have.
