Anyone from knoxville Tn.

I am having so much trouble with getting the sugery done. I had a dr. and a date 4 times . I got a call 2 days before the big day and the dr. is not doing the sugery anymore. So I got approved and here I sit with no dr. to do the sugery. Someone please help.

I'm not *from* Knoxville but I'm having my surgery done there. By Dr. Stephen Boyce. I would definitely check him out if I were you. I feel nothing but comfortable with him. He's very caring and seems very knowledgeable. His staff is fantastic, too. Very warm and also knowledgeable. His office number is 865.694.9676. There's a different number listed on here... Sorry. Well there are a whole long list of doctors on this site. I first found mine but just calling ever single one of them, writing down their information and whatnot. It's a lot of work, but obviously worth it.

Dr Boyce is the only Doc I know of in Knox doing this, but someone may know of one that I don't and post. If not you will have 2 choices from what i see. 1) Find a Doc that takes your insurance and travel (I know Johnson City has some, Chattanooga I doubt does but you never know, Nashville should have some) or 2) Change to a TC plan (You can change once a year I believe, check with them for sure though) that Dr Boyce takes (call them and ask them what would be best to take if you do this of course) Either way, best of luck to you!

Hi sweetie, sounds like you and I are in the same boat. Dr. Mark Colquitt in Knoxville does the surgery. Actually he's in Maryville, Dr. Campbell is no longer taking on bariatric patients out of St. Mary's hospital as he has no time to do his other surgeryies. There's a Dr. Fromm in Chatt. Johnson City has 3, Elizabethton near Johnson City there is Dr. Digby, in Kingsport there is one, don't know his name but he is with Wellington Surgical. I called a Dr. Birkett in Bristol, TN, waiting list for a consult is 18 months. I should have contacted him last summer when it was only 6 months. I would have seen him by now. I have waited for 2 years, what's another year or so. I wish you the best of luck, and May God guide you on your journey. Always Kathy

Hi Tisha, I'm not from knoxville but close to it. I have the same insurance that you have and I'm trying to see Dr. Colquitt in Maryville he works with Blount Memorial Hospital. I tried to see Dr. Boyce also and got turned down because of the insurance. Actually they were quick to the point they didn't except it. Then I learned about Dr. Colquitt and I went for a seminar at Blount Memorial Hospital one night I was very impressed with Dr. Colquitt I even stayed for the group support meeting and got to talk about the ups and downs of WLS I enjoyed it very much. I have been getting all my paper work togeather to get started. I will say that you have to pay money out of pocket before you can see the nurse to get the papers started even if you have insurance there is a $200 on line registration fee and there is a $300 fee that has to be paid at your 1st visit. If it all falls through you can get the $200 back but not the $300. But since you are already approved for the surgery you would not have to worry about losing your money I wouldn't think. I'm am now waiting on my registration fee so I can call for a appointment. I don't even know if the insurance will approve me yet Oh BTW Blount Memorial Hospital only does 1 bluecare surgery a month so there is a waiting list for surgery don't know how long but there is one. I'm originally from Knoxville but living in Miami now. I lived in Johnson City for several years and know they have a wonderful medical program there. I would highly recommend reasearching the doctors in that area. LuvitsunnyVB~lo/goal (17 months post op)
