Hi

Hi everyone, I'm new to this board. I'm hoping to have wls soon. I have been over weight for about 20 years and I'm so ready to get own with my life. I work fulltime and I'm also caregiver for my hubby. I really need to loose this weight, so I don't have to worry about myself and can better take care of hubby. I have been to the Vanderbilt seminar and to see Dr. Hadi to determine if I'm eligible for surgery. He did OK me, but I had a list of test that I had to take to my PCP and have done. I finished that last week and my pych eval. Now I'm waiting for my PCP to send all my info to Dr. Hadi, they will then turn it over to my insurance. Has anyone else here had the Lap Band? I have been researching this surgery even before it came to the US. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, I've heard so many different stories about BCBS ins. I really hope I don't have to fight for this, but I will if I have too. Love reading everyones post. KayG

hi kay welcome to OH TN!!! i too have BCBS and didn't have any problems. i had went to LA weight loss a year prior to researching the surgery. then i went to my PCP and told him i was interested in the surgery so he knew from prior experience that BCBS wants your doctor to monitor your weight for 6 mos. so he put me on meridia. well that didn't work for the weight so six months later i went to dr. husted's seminar then had my first consult where i turned in my PCP's MEDICAL NECESSISTY letter and all of my records from LA weight loss. then all i needed was a psych evaluation in which dr. husted's office hooked me up with which was right there in baptist. within two weeks my paperwork was ready for BCBS. i was approved the first time!
