Another question!
Me again!
As school winds down and my surgery gets closer, I find my mind racing with all kinds of questions!
How do you deal with ordering in a restaurant if you've had a Fobi? I know I'll never be able to eat a normal sized meal again. Do the waiters and waitresses give you that "yeah right" look if you ask to order off the children's menu? Do they give you a hard time if you're splitting something with your SO?
I'm sure I'll be back in about 2 hours with another one. 53 days! Agh!

Probably for a while you won't be worrying about that because of being on liquids, blended foods, and soft foods. In your profile area, are cards that you can print out, that explain you have had stomach surgery, and would it be alright to order from the children's menu, or just ask for a smaller plate and get what you can handle from the SO. I don't have any teeth, yet I have managed to be able to eat some things from the buffet. My gums are still very sore. Just check with your nutrionist, be sure you measure everything when you are able to eat people food again. Yes the servers will work with you, just print out the little card that explains it, and put your name on it. good luck, Kathy
Like Kathy mentioned, there are cards you can print out, and sometimes your surgeon will give you a card to give to your waitress. I won't be able to eat out for at least 4 months, but once I can, I plan on either ordering an appetizer (if it's healthy) or a regular meal. I've heard of some people asking for smaller plates, then boxing up the remainder of your meal for leftovers. Of course we would have left overs for days! Maybe you could have a little bit the next day for lunch/dinner and give the rest to your SO for his lunch/dinner.
Just an idea!

hi marian
my husband and eat out a lot due to our busy schedules. we have no problem at all sharing meals. every restraunt that we have done this always brings an extra plate or some have even split the meal on two different plates (which i end up giving over half of mine to my husband). also i have found that if i have a favorite dish, i have asked for them to make it into a child size portion and they do it with no problem at all, and i don't even have to show the little card that my surgeon gave me. if anyone wanted to fuss about it i guess the card would be a back up. also, if you do get your own regular size order, it makes great leftovers for breakfast and lunch. i really love doing that.
hope that helps!

I have read stories of people being denied the child's menue with the cards.. so I guess it is all in where you go and who you are going to continue doing business with if they deny you service to your liking... I myself wouldn't eat at a place that wouldn't accomodate me.
I hope things work out for you...
