Weird Question -- pulled pork?
Hey there,
As I was packing my husband a cooler full of pulled pork barbeque and coleslaw to take to my in-laws (who live in another state not blessed with our delicious fair), it dawned on me that I had never heard anyone mention pork after surgery.
Now you guys know that being Tennesseeans, we loved our pulled pork barbeque. Has anyone been able to eat this after surgery? The meat seems so tender that I don't think it would be a problem, but then what do I know?! How about spicy foods in general? I currently don't have any problems with acid, so we make it a practice to eat fire at least once a week. This, I know, will probably have to stop, at least temporarily, but do you have any insight?
Thanks!
Marian
P.S. the barbeque I mention hear came from Prater's Barbeque here in Warren County. If you're ever anywhere near McMinnville, you're really missing out if you don't try it.

Hi Marian, one nutrionist here in TN told me to not even consider spicy foods, beef, or pork for at least one year. Beef and Pork have a lot of fat to it. Best check with your own nutrionist. Any questions about food, that person is your best resource for you. Each one is different. May God guide you through your surgery and recovery. Kathy
Regarding spicy foods....at four weeks post op, I started eating Wendy's Chili at the suggestion of my doctor's nutritionist and from others at the support group meeting. It's a great source of protien (beans and lean ground beef) and is moist. I've had no prolem eating it. Needless to say, I don't eat it every day or even every week...however, it's good to know that if you are out somewhere and need a quick meal, that is something that can be eaten.
