Hello My name is Kathy, I am thinking about during some type of weight loss surgery. I'm not for sure if this is what I want to do. I know I'm tired of being overweight. I have tried alot of diets, and I've been successful in 2. Weigh****chers is one and Atkins Diet is the other. I'm going to start at the YMCA next month. I'm going to get on some type of diet program while I'm working out there, hopefully this will work. If this doesn't work, I guess the surgery would be next. Kathy

I completely understand. before my surgery, I had been on every diet known to man more than once. I gave it the "one last shot" thing and I did lose weight , only to gain it right back, Although I am losing more slowly than others who have had this surgery, I never, in all those diets, would have lost 60 pounds in 10 weeks.....and known I would keep it off. Good luck on any decision you make and on your diet. This board is so helpful for information about pretty much anything you want to know!

Hi Kathy, I used to live in Madison also. Worked at HH Greggs from 95 to 96 before they moved into their new building. I have been where you are. Until I was told last year that without drastic weight loss I wouldn't live much longer. Two days ago I found out I am now a diabetic. The longer I delay, another disease attacks me. I wish you the best in your journey to losing weight, and that you find a program that works for you. I know that if I want to see my 2 yr old and my new 1 month old grandsons to grow up, I have to have the surgery and soon. Keep us informed of your decision. We're here to help, and you can email me anytime. Hugs Kathy

Hi Kathy, I too have been overweight for pretty much all my life. (25 of my 34 years) I have tried all kinds of diets from a to z. I researched surgery for over two years while fighting my insurance company to pay for me to have it. They won, but this was so important to me, we refinanced our house and I self payed for Lap Band surgery. I know this is the best thing for me in the long run. I am sucessful in losing weight, I bet over the last 25 years I have lost about 300-400 pounds, trouble is it keeps coming back and with more to add. I feel like the lap band surgery will help me keep it off. I am still going to WW meetings, it is kind of my weekly support group with encouragement. I wish you the best in whatever you decide. Nicky
