Tenative Date of Dec. 15

Now I am really getting nervous. I am supposed to have pre op done on Dec. 1, then surgery on Dec. 15 with Dr. Houston. Quick questions about medications: Is anybody on Paxil, Norvasc (hypertension), protonix (GERD)? How these medications were handled after surgery? Thanks

Hey Joe, Congrats on your dates hope it comes together for you.I met with Dr Houston on the 4th and my surgery is on the 29th and i went to his seminar last night in Nashville at the cintennial.Today i had pre-op tests and pre-admission so i am really set now and praying that i am ready also.Good luck. I don't know about others, but I am on 80 mg. of Paxil at night, prevacid twice a day. I was told I would not longer need the prevacid after surgery, and may not need my high blood pressure meds, but along with the Paxil I have to take 300mg of Trazadone, and Oxazepam twice a day for nerves. My shrink does not want me taken off these while in the hospital, I wouldn't be able to handle the withdrawals. From what I have been told, certain meds will be crushed or by a shot. Check with your surgeon regarding certain medications especially your anti depressants. And check with your shrink about them. Goood Luck. Kathy
