Hello Im Kim, I live in Kentucky, But i want to have my WSL in Nashville with Dr. Houston. They are about ready to send my file to the insurance company for approval. Ive read the reviews of Dr. HOuston and mostly everyone seems pleased. If i get approved.. im sorry.. WHEN i get approved what kind of things can i expect? Pre-op testing i know, but what does it consist of? and can anyone tell me does this go fast? i have to travel quite a ways. So I am wondering how many trips i have to take... Well thanks for any help you can give me.. Take Care, Kim

Actually that name is Husted. I know because I had mine done with Dr. Anderson who was his partner until just recently. Now Dr. Spaw is the other surgeon in that office. They are all WONDERFUL! I could go on and on, but ultimately the important part is the surgery. I had my switch done on Jan 12, 2004 and weighed at the time 341. I just hit 195 this morning. I am so glad you are going to do it too. I traveled from Johnson City, TN which is 5 hours away, and it wasn't that bad. On the way home from the hospital you have to get out of the car every 1/2 hour and walk around the car a couple of times. It sounds silly, but it is to help prevent blood clots and that is SOOO important. We are all subject to them at a moment's notice, so I was glad that they are so careful about doing everything they can to prevent them. Have you signed up for the discussion board on Dr. Husted's own site? It is also a source of good info - the more the better.

Hello Susan, It was nice to hear from you. I think there are 2 surgeons in nashville, one is Dr. Husted and one is Dr. Houston. Dr. Houston said that a lot of people get them mixed up because their names are so similiar. Thank you for the information on the blood clots I will definitly keep that in mind.. because i surely dont want that to happen. You traveled further than I have too. I am so glad you are happy with your DS. I wish you much luck and success... Take care and again thank you so very much.. Kim

Kim, First off, Dr. Houston is wonderful I would suggest calling his assistant Holly and talking to her. She is very helpful and I'm sure won't mind answering any questions that you have. Congrats on your decision to have WLS! Tricia

Whoooppsss! I bet that IS confusing to people for the two names to be so close. I'm glad you set me straight and I hope you like "your" Dr. Houston as much as I liked "my" Dr. Husted! Good luck!

Susan, It IS very confusing to me too as I know them both! One thing that helps when you pronounce his name.. Dr. Houston is pronounced 'Howston' like 'how', instead of like the city in Texas.. go fig!

There is a street in New York City named Houston and it is pronounced the same way. That is where the area called SoHo is - south of Houston.
