Hi Karen, me myself will not allow anything to be stuck in my back after having a nerve block. Morphine doesn't work for me as a pump. Have you thought about a direct live morphine? Dixie Flower had that for a couple of days, then switched over to the pump. After the 2nd day she was more sore then in pain. I think I am going that route. Something to check in and ask your Dr. Good luck, Kathy

Actually it was on a pump the whole time they just had the machine to auto give me the dosage during my first two days post op. Then when I was three days post op they stopped the auto dosage and I could press a button if I needed pain medicine. It would only allow me to press it once every 10 min. However I didn't use it then. The pain was more discomfort than actual pain. Also when I was in surgery they placed a central line in. Instead of a "traditional" IV line. Honestly the only severe pain I had was when the pulled out my drain before I went home. I thought they were pullin my insides out with it. Hope this helps. *huggles*

I had epidural for pain relief. I chose that route. It did cause me to itch a lot but I still liked the epidural. I was not sedated as much. I did receive a morphine shot to ease the pain once they took out the epidural. It did help when they was taking the drain line out. Lisa
