new policy

i have bc/bs of alabama. my employer is changing the policy next month....some company in TN will be at my job to talk about the policy...do anybody know of a company in TN that writes the policy for bc/bs that might have a exclusion not covering the wls....i knew this is a long shot question, but if someone can share some light please do....

Each state may differ from bcbs but check the policy coverage. I fought with bcbs in SC over WLS. Our company's policy had a clause in it in which bcbs would not cover any procedures which were weight reduction related. I had letters from seven different doctors stating my medical conditions would be cured or greatly reduced with WLS. BCBS turned a deaf ear. I made five appeals and was turned down. I was told if that clause had not been in the policy, I would have probably been approved. I even consulated an attorney and he told me as long as that weight clause is in my policy that my hands were tied and I would not be given approval for the surgery. So please check the policy very carefully. Good luck on your quest.
