It seems everytime I start to feel better something else happens... Now I have Strep Throat (from my daughter) Which makes me wonder when the Flu starts around what will happen ? I get a flu shot every year usually but not this year, work is only giving them to staff in pt care areas. That makes sense. Does anyone know if we should maybe take extra vits C or something? I really don't need to miss anymore work!!! Sorry to be whiny !! Best to all, Linda

Hi Linda. Sorry to hear you have strep. Thats highly contageous for 24 hours after starting antibiotics. What physician offices forget to tell you most is to replace your toothbrush. The strep bacteria is all over it and if you stick it back in your mouth you'll reinfect yourself. I work in the medical field also and all of our patients are in a complete frenzy over the flu shot. They call the office all day long yelling at us about not being able to get one and what in the world are they going to do. Although I cant say it, my reply would be, do the same thing you did before flu s******isted. Frequent hand washing, avoid public places as much as possible. Thats about all you can do. Plus, the flu shot is not a guarantee you will not get the flu. They try to predict the right virus strand but its never a sure thing. Taking vitamin c is always a good idea. I've learned that I can pretty much take all the meds I did before surgery without problems. I've been sick this week and have taken antibiotics and sinus medication easily. I hope you feel better soon! God bless!

Hi Linda, the best thing I found when in the public and this really works for me. I carry a dust mask, so if someone around me is coughing, I put my mask on. My lungs are to small to handle even a cold. Second thing, everything you touch, grocery carts, doors, everything, has germs. Now you can become a Munk and wipe every thing off first, or just wear non surgical gloves. Discard them when you leave the area, if you go some where else, put another pair on. That way you aren't putting the germs on the steering wheel. When I am in my kitchen handling meat, the gloves go on. The drivers that pick me up for my appointments, always put on a pair before strapping me in. Mom had to do it when she drove a school bus. I have noticed lately how many Dr.'s offices do not even have a sink in the patients rooms, put your gloves on before shaking his hand. These are just a little extra procaution. Best of luck to you, Kathy
