Can Anyone Tell Me ?

When I went to see my WLS this week for the first time, he said on the video we watched that we would have a tube ran down our nose to pump out the nasty stuff. Can anyone tell me how long this stays in? Do'es it stay in after you are awake? Do'es it hurt or choke you? I am getting very nervous!!

I got mine out about 3 or 4 days. I was still in the hospital.

Hi sweetie, I'm pre-op but I have had that tube put down my nose while I was awake, during surgery it's done after you are asleep, but I had accidently took too many pills one day and they had to pump my stomach. Not fun when awake, I pulled it out when they did mine. But during surgery they place it there, kind of like a dentist does with the suction tube, to suck up any access acid in your stomach so that you don't get sick. It didn't hurt coming out, nor was I aware of it during surgery being put in my nose. So no worries lady. Hugs, Kathy
