Help??
Has anyone had the lap band done at centennial recently?
I went to the seminar on Oct. 12 and I'm just getting the whole process started. I am switching ins. companies effective Jan. 1 because United Healthcare (who I have now) will not pay for any wl surgery I am going to BCBS of Illinios. I'm just wandering if anyone around middle TN can tell me about their experience at centennial or any insurance info that might help me make the process easier.
Hi Michelle, I just checked on the side regarding bariatric surgeons. I clicked on Dr. Houston from Centenial, he accepts your insurance. That's a great group of Dr.'s, many have gone with them from this board. United may not approve first, most insurance companies don't, you appeal, and meet their guidelines, and the Dr. let's them know it's medically necessary, they usually approve. Most will say no at first. Even TN medicaid Blue Care says no, but my case manager even gives me surgeons names that take my insurance. It's a power play, to see if you actually need it and willing to fight for it. Changing insurances may have clauses in the policy that may not work for you at all since obesity is a pre-existing health problem. Check out the bariatric surgeons websites regarding your insurance. Read what prior patients have said about this insurance. Best of luck in your journey. Kathy
