Insurance does it again

This is my first post on the board. I am jumping through all the hoops for my ins. company so the surgery will be covered. My daughter had the by-pass surgery two years ago in Sept. She has done great and has lost a little over 125 pounds. Recently her husband and her had to look for another insurance company since he will no longer qualify for the current insurance. On Cobra they will have to pay in excess of $850 per month for just the two of them and their son. This will last for 18 months. Now here is the kicker!! After the 18 months expires and they will be responsible for their own insurance, she will have to pay $1,400 a month just for herself.....just because she had the weight loss surgery. She also checked with other insurance companies and more than one would not even insure her because she had the surgery. When will it end. It makes me soooo . I am 58 years old and have been on every diet there was but yet I have to prove I have tried to lose weight for the last 6 months. Oh well, I will continue to jump through the hoops and play their games. I am just grateful I do not have to buy my own insurance. I will keep you updated. Becky

Hi Becky, Well that's just awful, I've not heard of that before. I have heard of lot's of Ins drop WLS from been an approved surgery. Wonder what is the reason for not Ins people who have had it done? You just keep pushing on to get your surgery and it will be here before you know it! Take care Linda

Right but don't you have to wait for the open enrollment period if you don't fall in the % below poverty line?? A friend of mine sent in his paperwork only to be told he had to wait for open enrollment. When he asked when that was the lady said she didn't have a clue that TNCARE doesn't let them know until they are having it.
