Another hurdle down
I went in this am and saw Dr. Wright for my pre-op appt and I go back tomorrow morning to do pre-ops. And then it's only 12 days until surgery.
Now that the excitement is settling down, I am getting more than a lil nervous. I found OH's memorial page and it made me think. The hubby and I had the "what if" conversation last night as I don't have a will.
I also asked Dr. Wright about the use of a greenfield filter to prevent pulmonary embolism and he said he doesn't use them nor does he suspect I'd have any need for one.
He also said he didn't suspect I'd need a central line even though I warned him i have horrid veins. So guess we will see.
On other fronts, I got kicked out of PT for my neck problems. Everytime the physical therapist tried something, I'd be in so much pain the next day that I'd have to go in for a shot of narcotics and miss work. So she said she won't see me anymore as she suspects a ruptured disc and feels my neurosurgeon will end up doing surgery. I see him again November 1st; 13 days after my GBS. And I hope if he does want to do surgery he can do it while I'm out on leave for the GBS.
That's all from my corner of the world.
Love to all, Kelly
Kristie,
I'll be glad to talk with you after surgery and tell you how I feel my experience with Dr. Wright went.
As pre-op, I can say I feel he knows his stuff but isn't the warmest cuddly type of guy.
As for his secretary Lisa, well she's ok, I guess. She sent my paperwork in to insurance the first time and didn't include everything. When it denied, she told me I should just do another 6 month diet with my PCP. I refused and sent the appeal in myself and got approval. The moral is don't be intimidated by Lisa or let her stall you too much simply because she wants the world to move on her time.
Vanderbilt is a well known hospital but I think their clientbase's needs overwhelm them at times. Their clinics are not the most smoothly running operations.
Kelly
Hi Kelly, I sincerely hope it's not a ruptured disk, but better safe then sorry and have it checked out. Best of luck, now remember my grandchild is supposed to be born on the 19th, so I am expecting to hear great things about you and my new grandbaby on the same day. Don't let me down, Kelly. Here's sending you a special prayer. With love, Kathy
