I am home fromthe hospital!!!! But have
Several questions....Did anyone at all weigh when they got home and weigh more than when you went in? I know my doctor said do not weigh until two weeks and I am driving myself crazy. My surgery went well. I have had little pain but when I came home I weighed 18lbs more than when I went in!!!! I am one week post op....definitely not getting in the protein requirement but doing well with liquids (water, Crystal Light, Etc) as long as I sip very slowly but I just TODAY got back to where I was pre op! How in the world do people lose 20lbs by two weeks check up ??? Am I just going to wake up one day and some is gone? I am even walking a half mile a day on my treadmill (slowly, of course) What am I doing wrong?
Hi Cindy, I'm pre-op still, but sounds like the majority on this board. You are probably weighing on your scales, but it could be off compared to the Dr.'s. Put it in a closet and forget about it. Now remember that needle that is put into a vein for IV fluids? Well, fluid is still working it's way back out of your body. It will go away, and then you will see the weight going down. Patience my dear, Patience. You've only been out a week, don't ru**** you took a life time getting the weight, now you have a new life losing it, can't be done over night. I know we all want to see major drops, but wait until you see your dr. for weigh in's, you may be surprised at yourself. Hugs and best of luck, Kathy
Dear Cindy,
I am pre-op but from what I have gleaned off the boards your weight gain is most likely water. IV fluids from the hospital.
Not everyone loses 20 pounds in 2 weeks. And yes you wake up and it is just gone.
From what you posted you are doing everything right. Maybe try a protien drink or two per day. It counts as fluids and protien.
Hope I helped!

I didn't weigh myself when I came home but I'm sure that you aren't doing anything wrong. Just remember that the scale at home isn't the one the doctor goes by. He goes by the one in the office. You may have lost more than you think. Just don't get upset. With not getting in the protein, you may lose slower. Try some protein drinks to get more in.
Just a suggestion.

Dear Cindy,
I am Dr. Madan's patient also, you just do exactly like the book says and you will be amazed at how the weight falls off. I didn't buy a scale until I was around 6 months post op. Only weigh at your Dr. appts., also when your not losing pounds, (I learned) is when I was losing inches, go figure... Don't worry about it! Just drink and eat exactly like your supposed to those first 5 weeks......
