So much for being haughty
and thinking I'd change doctors mid-stream because I wasn't wild about how Dr. Wright's secretary handles things. I saw my PCP yesterday and asked his referral person to get me a referral to Dr. Husted. She called this morning and said she had the appointment, but did I know that Cumberland Center for Obesity was out of network for CIGNA. As a result IF I ever get approval CIGNA would only pay 70% of the charges versus 90% with an in-network doctor. She also said they require like 250 dollars up front at their first appointment. Can you say "cancel that appointment fast".
I also called the doctors at Centennial and it's the same story; they are not in-network for my insurance, so guess I'll have to put up with Lisa whether I like it or not.
Kelly
Hey Kelly, have you checked with Dr. Oxley, he does open and lap. He's thinking of starting the lap band in January. Pam Davis his surgical coordinator is a real sweetheart. She contacts me 2-3 times a week, or if I call her, she returns the call if it's b-4 2pm central time, other wise she calls back the next day. His seminar is in Franklin, Tn Monday evening at 6pm in the Basement of the Williamson Medical Center. Everything is done prior, even the insurance, to seeing Dr. Oxley. When you see him, you will be doing your pre-op labs, register at the hospital, and see the neutrionist. So far I have not been told of any out of pocket expenses. I didn't need to see an eating disorder psych, because I already see one on a regular basis. So all my shrink had to do is write a letter whether or not this surgery would help with my depression. The hard part will be quiting smoking 30 days prior to surgery. I don't know if he's in your net work, but here's their number, 615-435-5980, click on #4 for Pam's extension. Leave her a message and she will get back to you. Also leave your email address, then she can always let you know about your insurance, and what you need. Best of luck, Kelly, hope he can help you.
