I have Tenncare Select. I had Plantar Fasicitis(sp?). I had surgery on my foot called 'heel spur release' THis is where the tendon that is pulling the heel spur is cut to relieve tension (release). The spur did not get taken out. My foot is doing a lot better than before. My feet still hurt due to the weight but it is 75% better than before. I had the injections, foot wrapped, and medications before surgery. I did not have ortho though. I do not have any answers but good luck in finding out what you need. Lisa

Hi Kristie, must be your lucky day. I have had both feet done. Cortozone shots can only be given 3 a year, the first one never helped. The right foot, the surgeon (while I was partially sedated) made a cut in the bottom of my foot, this was i***** After that I had to stay off my foot for 6 weeks. It still gives me a lot of problems. In 1996 I had the left foot done, different state, different Dr. He put me totally asleep, made incisions on both sides of my left foot. Cut the tendons, a couple of stitches, a cast, and three days later I was back to work at HH Greggs in Madison, TN Never had any pain with the left one and no problems since. But when she cut into the bottom of my heal on the right one, and having to be on crutches for 6 weeks, I was on high pain pills for that 6 weeks, the pain has never gone away, and the right will have to be redone. If you get a good podiatrist, tell him you want the cuts on each side of the foot, with a walking cast, not flat or with a surgical boot over the cast but one where the ball is in the center of the cast, you will be surprised at how fast you will heal, and no pain. Best of luck, by the way TN care paid for mine in 1996. Having to wear dress shoes all day and standing on the hard tile which is over concrete, really makes a painful point on your feet. I walked like a duck after sitting until my tendons would loosen up. It is cheaper then regular surgery in the long term. But don't let them cut into the bottom of the heal but the sides. Major difference. Take care, Kathy
