I need questions answered on lapband surgery!!!
I am having the lapband surgery the 28th of this month. Dr. Steely in Clarksville Tenn. is doing it. I cannot have the other surgery done because I am at high risk.
I was told when I wake up that I will have a machine to breathe for me do to my many complications. I am wondering if there is anyone out there who had or are having the same problem like this??
I know this surgery is the best thing for me to do, I am scared and I know I have to do this for myself--any information would be gratefully appreciated.
Thank-You
Rebecca Lyon
Hi Rebecca, how are you at high risk? What is it that makes you a high risk that you can only have lapband? Reason I asked, is because I was denied by 3 Dr.'s because they said I am a high risk. But then they were lied to by Dr. letters saying I was a diabetic insulin dependent, pulmonary hypertension, and congestive heart failure. I don't have any of that. I do however, have level 16/13 sleep apnea, arthritis, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, and thyroid problems. I can only have an open rny, instead of Lap rny due to many surgeries and a lot of scar tissue. Good luck to you, Kathy
The machine to help you breath, is a ventalator. I will also have to be ventalated.
Dear Kathy,
Hello again, I was told I was high risk because of these conditions
1}severe sleep apnea
2}copd
3}diabetes--insulin and pills
4}3 strokes
5}high blood pressure
6} thyroid
7}neuropathy--fromn the diabetes
my sister had the open rny last Oct. she has lost 125lbs so far. She is looking really good. I don't know if I am just scared about the surgery itself or scared that it won't work.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Lyon
