How long does it take to get approved???

Hi everyone!! I was wondering.....about how long did it take you all to be approved??? I am biting my nails off!! I have UHC, and they are wonderful everytime I call. (Which is often! ) Last time I spoke with them, couple of days ago, the told me they received the request on 9/3/04 and it is pending approval. I know my doctor sent the requst on 8/17/04. I'm afraid that I'll never get that letter. Need some encouragement. I want so badly to be on the losing side. Thanks.

Hi, I know the feeling, getting approved could take as little as two weeks, or several months. Depends on your policy, if you are denied, keep appealing. If you need help, Joe Barlette is an attorney. Good luck, Kathy I have been just trying to find a Doc who will do my surgery. Have had 3 denials since July. Haven't made it to the insurance part. But the more you fight the better chances you will have at an approval. Keep us posted. Think positive, and be determined. Don't give up.

Hi hon! When it comes to getting insurnace approved - Everyone is different, sadly. It depends on what insurance you have, what your doctors wrote, your medical past, and etc. Only thing you can really do is stay patient and hope for the best. Hi Elizabeth. I wish you the best of luck. I too have UHC. I called this morning and they've not received my pre-determination letter. Seeing your post, I now know why...... 17 days. They mailed mine out on the 3rd. I guess by sometime next week they'll have it "filmed" into the system. Every CSR has told me that once it's received, UHC has 30 days max. to give you a decision. Unfortunately they can't give you any details of it's progress; you have to wait on the letter. I've read lots of posts and profiles and most who have UHC have been approved the first time. Let's hope we both are approved the first go around. Here's wishing you luck and encouragement!
