PCP in Oak Ridge TN AETNA

Hi Everyone! I am a new poster, but a lurker from way back! I have finally decided that it is time for me to get going and have the RNY bypass. Already been to one of Colquitt's seminars.. but feel that maybe I want someone different to do my surgery.. Not sure yet but I have Aenta insurance, and I need to find a PCP here in Oak Ridge that is favorable about the surgery. My normal PCP is against it for any one. So.. I know that I have to get 6 months of supervised diet history and I read on aetna's website that I could be approved prior to completing the 6 month diet, as long as it would be complete before my surgery date. Hi Theresa, your first step is this board. You will be able to gain knowledge, information regarding your Dr. and insurance. You will learn what you can eat, the recipes everyone comes up with just to get their protein. If you don't want Dr. Colquitt, have you decided on a different surgeron? You will need a pcp that will work with you and your surgeon. Without your PCP's approval, the surgeon won't do the surgery as you will need a referral from your PCP to the surgeon. There are a lot of great Dr.'s out there, so don't limit your search to just Knoxville. Best of luck to you and your journey. Kathy
