Hello all.... I'm new to this board My insurance did not cover lapband surgery, so I headed south to Mexico and paid for it myself. Dr. Arturo Rodriguez performed my surgery on July 26, 2004 and so far everything has gone very well. I go back to Mexico this Friday for my first fill. I can't wait because I have never felt any restriction after my surgery. I'm hoping that all that is needed is an adjustment I've only lost 11 pounds in 4 weeks, but I'm not going to get too down about it. I just hope that I feel some restriction after Friday. Did anyone else in the Nashville TN area have their surgery in Mexico? If so, I'd love to hear from you!

Thank you for the "Welcomes" and encouragement. I notice that most of the people that post on this board have had the RNY surgery. I'm curious as to if you had the option of the RNY or Lapband and why you chose RNY? Obviously RNY is a lot more serious surgery, but people tend to lose a lot of weight in a hurry afterwords, but the Lapband is a lot less invasive, but the weight loss is slower over a period of time. Thanks for letting me ramble...After I had surgery, I find myself wanting to talk about this stuff all the time now, I'm excited about what the future will bring

i can tell you why i choose to not have the band.with my surgery i have certain things i can and can not do and i needed that to make it work for me.if i could still drink sodas just for a example i dont think i would lose as well.i needed something that would help me to control what i could and coudlnt eat if that makes since lol. not to mention im not very good at the waiting game .

Kym, I totally understand your reasons for chosing RNY. My doctor also has told me "No carbonated beverages" ... Fortunately, I wasn't big on them to begin with. Good luck to you in your new life journey! Glad to "meet" you on the web..
