PRE-OP STUFF DONE!
Now THAT was a day of fun!!! Chest x-ray, the LOVELY Barium beverage (I asked for the pina colada flavor, and they were most obliging) then onto the dopler venus looking for blood clots thingy....next, met with the nurse that will be taking care of me after surgery, then to admitting to fill out pages and pages of "stuff", then ekg, more "stuff" with another nurse, a urine sample and the day of fun at the hospital was over. Then it was onto the Doctors office so he could have some fun (and I'm sure he did with the $2500.00 we handed over) and then after my visit with him (which I was thrilled to learn that he's done this surgery before, and not to worry, he has an instruction book should he forget something!!!!!) then Nutrition class and FINALLY I was through....10 more days, my life begins...Hugs, Carol
thanks Carol for warning us on what to expect. As for that Barium, that I can't take, allergic to the sulfate in it. Since I have a hiatel hernia, all I need to do is eat Pizza Hut meat lovers, the grease will clean me out in no time. I do that about 3 days prior to surgery, then just clear liquids for 2 days. A Dr. tried once to get me to drink the Citrate (green bottles), told him I was going to throw up, he didn't believe me, and I threw up all over him. I've tried the gallon of stuff, but with high blood pressure, I can no longer drink that, it's pure salt. I have been told, that when they have to check for leakage, it will either have to be die, or something they can put into my IV.
Sounds like you had a real busy day. I know you are excited to finally being close to being a loser. Best of luck to you. Kathy
