Just got back from my first Dr appt,,, down 23 lbs I had to ask twice!! Everything looks great he told me to start on the protein supplments or shakes so I'm ready for suggestions!!!! I haven't tried any yet! Got that little drain out it was out and I was still asking ! Nothing like that big one... But it does feel some better with it out. Heading for some Jell-O !! Congratulations, Linda, on the 23 lbs! How fantastic! With regards to protein, in the shake form I used the Spirutein brand and they were pretty good. I drank the Isopure drinks too in the beginning. They are drinkable but not what i'd refer to as good. Compared to the other brands however, it was the better choice. Now I use the nectar powder in fuzzy navel flavor. Its good mixed with crystal lite's sunrise orange flavor. I have my glass every morning. Only 90 calories per scoop and 24 grams of protein. They have other flavors but the fuzzy navel is the only one i've tried. I hear the apple is good too. They also have lemonade. I lived on jello and popcicles in that first week lol. Sorry to hijack this thread, but hey Melanie I have a question. What did you do about protein in that first week? I couldn't tolerate the Atkins shakes they brought to me in the hospital (made my pouch do flip flops) and I have been using the nectar, but even though i am getting in roughly 4 oz in an hour (1oz every 15 minutes) I feel so full at the end of that hour I could bus****er doesn't do me this way just the protein nectars. Did you worry about protein that first week or just do the pops & jello? thanks for any info. you can pass along. Thanks, Greg

Hey Greg. Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the shakes. I was on clear liquids for the first week and the only protein drinks I had were the Isopure drinks. Get the ones that are low carb. Its the sports kind I think that have more carbs and less protein. You want the ones with 40 grams of protein. My surgeon told me to drink 1 to 1.5 bottles a day. I got a small drinking glass and filled it up. I'd sip on it at each commercial break on tv. I got my quota in every day that way. Take smaller sips at a time and wait a good minute in between and that should help you get more in. I had trouble with that too in the beginning. The small sips makes a big difference. As far as the nectars go, I put one scoop in a half glass of crystal lite. The taste is better, and only using a half glass makes it gone faster lol. Hope this helps. Dont worry too much about the first couple of weeks. Anything you can get in is beneficial. You dont want to dehydrate. God bless! Melanie

Congrats on the 23#... Your on your way.... I go back to Dr today for my two month checkup... Cant wait to see an official weight loss... My dietician told me to try the Edge carb option protein drink it has 15 grams of protein and alot of other nutrients you need.... It doesnt taste half bad.. they have them at Kroger and Walmart.... Keep up the good work Robin
