Hi all, I just wanted to let you all know that Julie called me around 12:00 today and she saw Dr Steely. She talked him into letting her go home today. She had that mean nurse again. I wouldn't want to stay either. She can get more rest at home. My friend, Dena, who had surgery with Dr Hruska on June 4,2004, and I went to see her before she went home. She had her iv taken out around 10:00am and was in pain. Nurse from hell said she was going to give her some kind of patch medicine and Julie said she couldn't take that because she is allergic to it. So she had no pain relief since 10am. Well let me tell you, That pissed me ( excuse me) and Dena off royaly! We went to the nurses station and told them she was in pain and was about to be in a car for 1 1/2 hours and needed something. Well, ***** NURSE( I am sorry if this offends anyone, can you tell I don't like her and won't put up with this crap) said" I offered her that patch and she refused", we said no she can't take that patch because she is allergic to it, there is a BIG difference. So she said I'll call the doctor and ask for something for her. Now I say to you, She is an RN, I don't have my nursing degree,(YET) but an idot could have solved that puzzel. If you can't take one medicine you call and ask the doctor what else to give the patient. Needless to say she got something different. Anyway, we got to meet a lot of Julie's family and they were all really nice. They were a little ruff in getting Julie to the car, so when she left she was a little upset and in pain, but hopefully now that she is at home it is a little better. I am going to call her soon and when I do, I will let you all know. Let me end this update by saying to all the pre-ops. When you are in the hospital, and if by chance, but hopefully not, you get the nurse from hell too, PLEASE stand up for yourself or tell a family member too, you do not have to put up with them. Request another nurse and speak to a charge nurse and let them know why. Ok I have rambled on enough. I will talk to you guys a little later. Nicky

Nicky your the best. I am sure Julie agrees too. I am so sorry she got that rotten uncaring nurse again, but at least she is out of there now and in her own bed. I am sure glad she is home. She is so lucky to have a good friend like you. Well give her a welcome home hug from her California sister and tell her continue to get better and keep posting her progress. And a big hug for you for taking such good care of Julie. ((((((BIG HUGS))))))) BYE

thank you for letting us know. I hope I don't get that mean nurse. I will tell her off! I am glad to hear Julie is going home. She will get more rest there. I hated to hear that she was in pain due to that nurse's negligence(sp?). Let her know I am glad she is home and she will be in our prayers for a good recovery. Lisa

Hi Nicky, I am thrilled that Julie is home. What's the name of that nurse so we can all beware. If it were me, I would be filing a complaint not with just the charge nurse, but with the Admin. No one deserves that kind of treatment. Is this nurse a skinny one, or one who needs to lose weight? If she's skinny, then she has no idea what Julie has just gone thru to lose weight and is very uncaring. If she's obese herself, sounds like jealousy. But please let us know that nurses name, so that anyone going thru that same hospital in Clarksville will be prepared. You have been excellent as her angel. Thank you, Kathy

Nicky, Thanks for the update! Glad to hear she's doing well and heading home! Being home the first week in my opinion, is the hardest of the whole surgery. By the way, I wouldn't be to upset with family about getting her in the car. I mean you can't help someone that size, that much. It's hard on them too. I WAS that size, actually a little bigger -- So please don't think I'm being rude, just standing up for the family! Thanks again for the update, Katie

Katie, You aren't being rude. The way I wrote it made it seem like the family was rough getting her into the car, I meant the nurse that got her out of the wheel chair was rough. She kinda dumped her. Take care. Nicky
