Had my surgery on the 9th no real problem just the Greenfield Filter wouln't go down my neck vein so he had to change routes which took 2 hours longer than planned but hey I was asleep so I didn't care !! I'm feeling pretty good but i have a lot of gas still is this normal? I also have a very nasty taste in my month I guess from the anasth. the only think made me alittle unhappy was on my discharge papers it said I weighed 10lbs more I am already tired of broth!! From what I can tell all the new post ops are doing great!! I'm glad. Well I'm headed for the recliner and a pain pill can't wait to get this last drain out I think that will help with the pain . Oh one more thing my doc put me on Pepicd Complete twice daily chewables nasty big thing but it seems after I chew it up my belly really blows up ?Anyone else have that problem? Best to all Linda

Hello linda. I am 16 days post op myself. I had major gas in the hospital( was in there 6 days), but not alot now. My doc( who is in swee****er tn. ) put me on a pill called protonix. I take it once a day for my tummy. Plus all the vitamins. lol I didn't even come home with a script for pain meds. I just took it all in. lol I had 2 drains and they are both out. My surgery was on the 29th of july. I hope you do very well. I have lost 25 lbs at last weigh in. I think that is good??? I ate a small sauage biscuit today..it didn't hurt me at all. i mean it was like double quarter size..so very very small. just chewed the heck out of it. hehe i am not on any certain foods. my doc is very different. anyways, just thought i would say hi. Congratulations on making it to the other side...the losing side! God bless you, Peggy

Hmmm sausage biscuit - Only 16 days out?! That sounds a bit off to me - How can you have this surgery and eat that right away?! Sorry to sound so negative but come on... That isn't a wise choose on your new stomach. Another thing, your doctor should of given you some sort of diet program and if he didn't - you really SHOULD request one, it's IMPORTANT. -Katie

Hi Linda, welcome back. Missed you. From what I have been told, you will feel gasy for a while, that comes from them having to pump gas or air in to separate things. I have been on Previcid twice a day for over 10 years. So I imagin I'll still be on it for a while after surgery. Got some good news for you, I now have an angel. Dixie Flower has accepted the position and can't wait until she can do her angel duties. Gained 10# after the surgery, must have drank a lot of broth. You take care of yourself, and may there be no complications. Love ya, Kathy

Glad to hear everything has gone OK. Yes the predischarge weigh in can be rather disheartening. I know mine was. However that excess weight is from the IV's they had in while you were admitted. I gained about 10 lbs from those. My surgeon's office uses my one month preop weight to chart my weightloss. Which to me sucks cause even if the IV's caused the weight gain I still gotta lose it also. Oh well. Wishin you a Godspeed recovery *huggles*

Hey Linda, Glad to hear your doing well! That nasty taste in your mouth is quite normal - I ended up getting a tongue scrapper in the toothpaste isle to help get it out cause even brushing my tongue didn't help it. And those 10 pounds more? They'll come off in the first week! Trust me! However, I still use that weight as my starting weight! LOL! I told Nurse Judy that they still counted whether it was from the IV's or not! Question? What are the pepice complete for? I know we take tums for calcium but never heard of anyone being put on that! Hope your feeling better now! keep us updated on your journey! -Katie
