Aetna Hmo State Employees/Vanderbilt Reviews

Hi, Does anyone in Tn have the state insurance Aetna Hmo and got approved for RNY? Also PLEASE give me some feedback on Vanderbilt for the surgery. I have learned so much on the site and I went to a seminar at Centenial and liked Dr. Houston , but my insurance won't cover that group.

Sorry I can't help on the insurance issue but I had my surgery at Vanderbilt by Dr William Richards. I didn't have any complications and Dr Richards was wonderful. Contact the Center for Human Nutrition at 936-1288 and they will let you know what you need to do. Good luck with you journey. Cindy

Thanks on the Vanderbilt info. I have contacted them and have my inital eval next week. Im nervous!! I just heard bad things about the hospital treatment.

Hi! I'm scheduled to have my surgery at Vanderbilt on Aug. 23 by Dr. William Richards. I finished all my pre-op visits today. Everyone, and I mean everyone, that I have come in contact with at Vanderbilt has been exceptionally nice. No one has been rude or hateful. I am a nurse, and I had heard both good and bad things. I also had wanted to go to Centennial, but I am a state employee, and my insurance (BC/BS) would not cover them. But now I am glad I am using Vanderbilt. I feel really confident in Dr. Richards.

i had my surgery at vandy the only problem i had was i had to wait for every to get from recovery to my room.but the nurses were good and my surgeon was dr Torquati and he was great he came to see me after the surgery a everyday.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I am just very nervous and trying to hear from anyone I can. I do not want to make the wrong decesion. The pain does not bother me as much as the fear of dying. I know only I can reconcile that, and I will!
