I just saw on the news that a gastric Bypass patient from TN died of natural causes in his sleep. I think he was a young man. I only saw the tail end of the story. Anyone know anymore about this poor man?

Hi Annie, Here is a link to a story on him when he was having the surgery back in February of this year: http://www.wkrn.com/Global/story.asp?S=1628985&nav=1ugFKb3b here is another story about him post-op http://www.wkrn.com/Global/story.asp?s=%20%201637215 and here is a link to the tiny story about his death, still doesn't tell you what he died of: http://www.wkrn.com/Global/story.asp?S=1628985&nav=1ugFKb3b Finally here is a story saying it was natural causes: http://www.wsmv.com/Global/story.asp?S=2152231&nav=1TcRPgbi

Thanks Greg. I went looking for more info, but you did a lot better than I did. I don't mean to be morbid, but a death of a WLS patient (in TN, no less), even when his death wasn't directly related to surgery hits home in many ways. I am so sad for his family.

I just started going to the support group at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville where he went. I met him once, but he was very outgoing and an angel. He died last sunday morning (early). His mother is devastated. I have her address if someone wants to email me to send a sympathy card. There is also a fund set up at local Sun Trust banks for his family to defer expenses - he and his mother lived on $600 disability a month and his family could use any/all donations. Sadly, Jules
