Morning all
Hope everyone is doing well.
Yesterday was so busy I didn't get time to check the message board until today. I am team mom for my oldest daughter's freshman cheerleading squad and we had a cookout Friday night, then a sleepover, and finally, a carwash yesterday to raise money for warm-ups. Those kids made 375 dollars in just four hours. Then the girls wanted to go shopping at Old Navy for school clothes as they had a killer sale; lots tops and shorts for $1.97 and such.
Today, we are doing major housecleaning and organising as school starts here tomorrow.
I spoke with the pre-cert lady at Vandy Friday about how we go forward with an appeal and she said that Dr. Wright's nurse, Lisa, had taken my file back and would be handling it. We discussed some points of why I was denied and she said my paperwork didn't show 6 months of diet and weigh-ins. It was then I pulled out the packet she had faxed me of papers, which went to the insurance, and damned if she wasn't right. Lisa at Dr. Wright's office didn't give the lady who does pre-cert everything I sent in before my consultation. Cathy (the pre-cert lady) says that happens often. She gave me the name of a nutritionist at Vandy so I could setup my own nutritional eval and told me if I'd get the records from my PCP again and fax them directly to her, we'd bypass Lisa and she'd resubmit my stuff.
I was so steamed after getting off the phone with her that Lisa hadn't supplied Cathy with everything even though I sent it before my consult with Dr. Wright that I almost called Lisa. But then I thought what's the point. Lisa is going to have say-so in how soon I get a surgery date after I get approved so ******g her off might not be the best thing. I will get my chance one day to tell Dr. Wright how inefficient his office is ran thanks to Lisa playing Queen Bee, but I will wait until after my surgery is done.
I called the nutritionist and was told it was a series of 4 visits; 2 before surgery and 2 after. The cost is $250.00 and they don't wanna be bothered by filing insurance so I have to pay it up front, then I can file my own insurance to get my money back. This was the same thing I was told about my psychiatric eval. What is up with Vanderbilt and not wanna to do the things most healthcare providers do? The secretary gave me an appointment for Monday for my first of the four visits, but then she called back while I was on lunch and left a message cancelling the appointment and saying she will call me Monday to reschedule. I still am unsure what is up with that other than I am pretty sure that Vandy as a whole isn't very efficiently ran.
I did research a couple other WLS docs this morning, but starting from scratch would mean I'd have to go through seminars and resubmit the paperwork and all that crap. Plus my PCP says Dr. Wright is a wonderful surgeon, so guess I'll stick it out. Maybe this is God's plan for teaching me patience.
Well, I am off to clean. May you all have a wonderful Sunday and love to you each.
Kelly
They say you can attract more bees with honey. I would feel upset too if it would have been me in your place, but remember there are lots and lots of patients that Lisa has to get everything ready for. She didn't purposely do it. She has been real nice to me and I know she works hard. I'm sorry that it's taking so long for you, but try to be patient because God has just the right timing picked out for you.
I will say a prayer for you an good luck in everything, Sheila
