I haven't been successful in obtaining a surgeon yet. But I do enjoy reading the posts, and I have learned a lot. Now let's talk about food. I read things like Flax seed, whey, smoothie king, what are these and how are they used? I was on a freebie site and saw flax seed, they sent me a sample, but what am I to do with it? What does it do to the body in weight loss. By the way, I am trying your alls strange recipes like slim fast and adding cheese cake, or cottage cheese, vanilla, and splenda for a custard. How do y'all come up with these recipes? Is there a book out there that helps us on the journey that I should get? Where do you get the things you need for the weight loss to be successful? GNC at the mall? Help me out folks. Hugs, Kathy

Whey - is a form of protein, a protein powder actually. It's a way to get the protein in without having to eat meat or any other source of protein food. Smoothie King - Is actually a resturant, well not really - it sells SMOOTHIE's, lots of different flavors, lots of different ways. They do have a 'protein smooth shake'. http://www.smoothieking.com/ Also, becareful when going here for a protein shake! The calories are high, the sugar is even higher (Even know its NATURAL sugars!), and the fat grams is awful! I had one of these about 3 weeks out of surgery - It was my first time dealing with dumping syndrome. I didn't go to the bath room nor did I throw up - I got really hot, sweating, and wanting to just faint! It's not something I want to go through again, anytime soon! Flex seed - I have no idea! I just asked a friend and this is what he said... Me: what is Flex Seed? Him: its an oil Him: it helps with digestion Whether he's right or not? Neither of us completely know - I'd do a search on that, if i were you! Plus, I wouldn't recommend eating any sort of seeds early out of surgery. Seeds can upset many peoples tummy's with/without the surgery. Now about books? I've never bought one. When it comes to making a low-carb slim-fast shakes, it's really about common sense and at the same time thinking what has protein in it to make this one drink, better FOR ME! Protein will be important, now and forever. When you eat, you need to realize one thing - GET PROTEIN FIRST! Protein does so much for our bodies, it helps us to loss the weight we need to loss. I'm sure if you talk to your doctor, he'll be able to explain this a million times better! I'd do a search online but I'm in a bit of a hurry right now! Now about a recipes? I'm not big on cooking! I don't want to be near the kitchen, nor do I want to be playing with food to cook a recipe but that's just me! Plus, I don't have a family that needs to be feed - so I have an advantage! I buy tuna fish, shirmp, fish, turkey burgers, soy burgers, veggie burgers, yogurt, low-carb slim fasts, veggies, cottage cheese, WATER, PROPEL, kool-aid! That's my usual grocery list, give and take whatever I'm in the mood for. Hope this helps! -Katie

Thank y'all for your imput. This helps a lot, all except for soy burgers, no thank you on those. They didn't sit well with me before, so I'm not taking any chances on them after surgery. I really appreciate your answers. God Be with you. Love Kathy

Kathy....go to the main board and find Tooter. She frequently talks of flax seed and the benefits of it. She is a great person and I am sure she will be happy to answer any questions you may have about flax seed !

I will thank you Carolyn of AL. I just read these postings and they come up with some weird things to put together to eat. Some of it, I have tried and it's very good, others, makes queasy just thinking about them. Kathy
