Has anyone ever worked for Harrah's casino and been approved for surgery?

Question back what does one have to do with the other? Is it the casino's insurance? Kathy

The casino is self funded by United Healthcare. I have heard that an employee there was approved for the surgery even though there is an exclusion. Do you know of anyone that has been approved?

This is going to sound rude but... Are you being nosey? OR You actually looking into having the surgery, for yourself? If you neeed to find out if your insurnace covers the surgery, for you. You really should just call them and ask or Talk to your PCP. -Katie

I was not being nosey. I have been in appeals and trying to have the surgery. I was hoping someone could help me. But as I can see the TN board isn't very friendly so, I will just walk away and seek help elsewhere.

Please don't think all of us Tennesseeans are unfriendly. I am sorry you were offended. When I went to the seminar my doctor's office had there was a discussion about self-funded and non-self-funded policies. According to what I understood at the seminar, if a policy is self-funded you have a MUCH greater chance of getting an appeal approved because the company can change their own policies. Companies that are not self-funded cannot be changed. I would continue with my appeals. Make sure you have strong documentation and state that it is a MEDICAL condition of MEDICAL necessity that you have the surgery. Do no call it weight loss anything. Jay, at Dr. Houston's office, explained all of this in detail at the seminar but since it didn't apply to me I didn't take notes. I hope this helps some. Good luck and God bless. Jeanette
