Thank you to everyone *****sponded to my first post. Everyone's information was very helpful. Now I have another question. I'm having a hard time finding someone to do my nutrional consult. Tenncare said they weren't contracted with anyone to do this. So who have you guys used, and did Tenncare pay for it? Thank you so much for any help!!

Stacey, My regular doctor sent me to a lady at the local hospital for my nutritional consult. TennCare will pay for this. They paid for mine. The lady I saw was Ms. Fisher. Her phone number is 615-443-2592. I don't know where all she does her consults. You might call her and she might could do yours. But I don't know how far she goes or how far you are willing to go. You might want to ask your doctor for a referal to do this. I hope it all works out for you. Julie

Hi Julie, I will be in your area around August 21. I am attending Dr. Oxley's seminar in Franklin on the 23rd. I would love it if we could meet. I used to live in Lebanon. Here's my cell number for when I am in that area 423-523-5763, or call my sons apartment at in Antioch at 731-8608. They just got married in June. By the way, this Ms. Fisher, what is she like? I might want to check her out while I'm there. Rather have my PCP in Morristown send a consult to her. I have only seen the one at the VA hospital and that was last winter. I need to update with one. Hope to meet you, Kathy

Hi Stacey, The best thing you can do is call your local PCP and see what they say about it.... I was sent to the local wellness center and it costed me around $30 bucks PLUS $5 bucks each meeting! It wasn't any where near what I needed, which was a waste of money too! But it got what I needed down.... However, from my understanding TennCare doesn't pay for nutrional classes, again - Ask your PCP and if that doesn't work, call Dr. Hruska's office back and see what they can do for you! (I'm guessing thats who your doctor is?) Goood Luck, Katie

I got my PCP to refer me to a dietician. It did not cost anything for me. Lisa

Tn Care will pay for the nutrionist if it's done at a hospital. If not and just in an office, they won't pay, because the nutrionist doesn't bill the insurance. Someone said it costed them $250 for each session, two before surgery and two after surgery. Plus each follow-up. Best of luck to you. Kathy

Hi, I had my nutrition consult done with the dietician my surgeon's office uses which is at the hospital where she does surgery. Tenncare not only covered the consult but also covered my transportation to the visit (I live 4 hrs from it). However the dietician was one with the hospital. I couldn't find any local that would take the TNcare for the consult. Best of luck. *huggles*
