Pre-Op/Post-Op
I am finally post-op. My surgery was July 21st, too. I am feeling pretty good. I get tired very easily. Today is my first day back to work and I think I am going to cut out early. I have lost 21lbs so far. My doc says that by 6weeks I should lose 25% of my total excess weight, so I will likely plateau for a little while as my total excess weight was 108lbs, so I have already lost almost 20%! Yay.
I haven't been able to eat anything other than the protein drinks and flavored waters (I have all this jello, but by the time I get in all the necessary stuff, I am too full for jello!****ep craving a chicken tender, just one. I don't know why, I never really liked them before!
Hello all.. I am still pre-op, finished all the testing that I am aware of and am waiting for second consult and insurance approval process to begin.
Called surgeon's office a few minutes ago and was told I have to pay the previous bill of $253 (insurance denied the bill for exclusion on treatment of obesity) plus second consult amount of $165 in order to get in for second consult so unfortunately I will have to hold off another month before I can schedule the appt, will take that long to come up with $420. but am hanging in no matter how long it takes!
My brother called me this morning and is lecturing me telling me i just need to do atkins diet and forget surgery I don't need it.. grrr.. I thought my whole family was behind me but guess I was wrong.. it hurt but it am not surprised, he always thinks he knows more about me than I know myself. go figure.
Anyways congratulations to all of you post-op and your losses so far! I am truly happy to see the results happening for you and can not wait to join you all!
And best wishes to all of those who are pre-op as I am.. it will happen for us too!

Hi I am also pre op and Your brother sounds like my brother. He lost over 100 lbs on the atkins. I tried it for a couple of weeks. It was very hard. I am not him. I have different problems than him and I'm doing what I think is best for me. I havent got my date as of yet but Lisa at Dr. Wright's office told me within the next couple of weeks she would work on setting a date for me. I wi**** wouldn't take so long..Hey did anyone have Dr. Wright? I Don't remember him telling me I had to loose weight before the surgery. Does any one know?
I give high fives to those who are able to do diets like atkins and make them work for themselves but it isnt for me.. i have been there done that!
Thing about my brother that gets to me so bad is that this is a person who has ALWAYS been a tall thin guy who could eat like a horse and never gain an ounce..how could he possibly understand!? I just asked him to please not judge me.. I explained to him that it is great if the diets work for him or whatever but I have to do what is right for ME and this is what I chose to do. I told him I am willing to sit down with him and show him the thousands of pages I have copied in my research showing all the pros and cons etc of the surgery but he doesnt want to take the time. so I will just continue on with what I am aiming for and maybe in time he will come around. who knows.
I do know Atkins works tho for some, my dad has lost a great deal on it himself.
Honey,
Don't take what he said peresonally! My brother said the same thing to me but in reality he doesn't understand me, nor does he spend enough time with me on a everyday basic to understand...
However, when I finally had the surgery all the way in Clarksville - BOTH of my brothers were there when I woke up! I really think they wanted you to try another diet because this surgery is very unsafe! Its a HUGE decision! A LIFE CHANGE! - There nervous for you, which really is a good thing!
Stay positive! Let them voice there concern but at the end know your doing whats RIGHT FOR YOU!
Goood luck,
Katie
Katie,
I am fine still pre-op. I am waiting on insurance. It has now been a week since the insurance received my papers into their computers. It has been almost 3 weeks since I finished all that my doctors office required before submitting and it took them 2 weeks to send it out. That upset me but at least I am that far. I just keep thinking I could know something by now if they hadn't taken so long. This waiting game is hard. I just want a date to look foward to.
Congrats to all that are preop and keep on going you are all doing great.
To those still waiting my prayers are with you and I hope the waiting ends for you soon.
To those who have dates I will pray for you that all goes well with the surgery and the weight loss there after.
Take care all and have a wonderful day.
Tara
