Memphis Surgeons?

I had surgery 13 months ago and I now have a staple line disruption. My surgeon, Dr. Alston, has had to take medical retirement from performing surgeries so I assume I'm going to have to find another surgeon. I don't know what the process will be since I will be a "repair" rather than a first-time WLS candidate. I hope I won't need to have the six-month supervised diets, etc. Would anyone mind telling me about their surgeon from the Memphis / MidSouth area... and how long it took to get your surgery scheduled? I'm so concerned that I'm going to have to spend a year jumping through hoops and I'm slowly gaining my weight back. I've already given away all my larger size clothes so this is a double-whammy! Thanks folks! DeeDee

Hi there, I am with Dr. Woodman at Baptist East on Walnut Grove. (He is doing my surgery at Methodist Germantown because my insurance doesn't participate with the Baptist Health Care system anymore) I have heard from a few other posts here that he took some of Dr Alston's patients. He is fantastic! I don't think it will take them that long to fix you up. Give the girls in the office a call 901-869-2000. Talk with Kelley. I have my Lap band surgery a week from tomorrow with Dr. Woodman! Good luck! Carolyn

I had my lap RNY done by Dr. McGrath and she is awesome. She works out of St. Francis. You can call her office at 765-3040. I'm not sure that a repair would cause you to have to go through the entire program prior to having your repair. She is the greatest believe me..... Anne

Dr. Woodman has been taking some patients of Dr. Alston. They worked together sometimes is what I heard. Tara
