We watched I-Robot and Dodge Ball. We also saw Radio and then watched some Law and Order. It was a lazy day. My surgeon suggests this shake: Slim fast (carb) the chocolate 1 1/2 tbs jello instant cheese cake mix ice blend it all together. The cheesecake mix not only adds some protein it also cuts down on the sugary taste. It's pretty good. Anne

Morning all, Kinda of a bummer weekend this week. It has been hard to get up the energy to do much of anything on weekends these days. I can't wait to actually join the land of the living again. 8 days and counting til Lap band surgery! I go see the nutritionist today before work. Hey I have a single son and daughter....they're both fantastic, but living in Florida right now with their daddy) More on that one later... Will be changing shifts at work when I go back after surgery. I took a week off. I am working 3:30 to midnight now but put in for like a 4 day-3 off working 11 am to 10 pm with an hour for lunch. (I would KILL for an hour long lunch..I am going to need more than 30 minutes after surgery and if I don't get this shift am going to get a "medically necessary" 45 mins at least. Next choice is 5 days a week from 10:30 am to 7. That one won't be bad either but thats with the 30 min lunch. Will let you know which one I get...I should find out later this week. I have to make these changes along with the surgery. I have been losing my grip on life here lately with the work hours and the weight. I am soooooooooo excited about the changes!! TTYL! Hugs, Carolyn

Whoo! Your day is almost here! Good Luck! About the 30 minute lunch thing - You'd be surprised! After surgery your not as hungery anymore, and your day isn't thinking about food.... You'll be fine! But I would take a protein drink to sip on during the day, to get your protein in if you can't eat something, or even keep a handful of nuts/soy nuts in your pocket.... Just some ideas! Goood luck!! -Katie

Hi there, I know who you mean, the office supply place...but no, I don't think its the same Mathis family. My hubby's dad was from somewhere between here and Nashville, and his mom is from the Bomar family if that rings any bells. BTW, I am related by blood to Justin Timberlake. My husband's uncle is Justin's grandfather..(His mom Lynn is his first cousin) Use to see him a lot more before he went "hollywood"...now I don't have much pride in what he has done with himself. A good kid at heart, just needs to get back to his roots. Anyhow, I work at MCI on Shelby Oaks Dr. Been there just over a year. Love my job...If you're in Covington we're neighbors! So howdy neighbor! Hugs, Carolyn

Hiya Katie! I'm sorry Sunday was so tough for you. My grandfather died 3 yrs ago this October and my granny (his wife) died this April. My mom asked me to come up and go through her clothes to see if I wanted anything. I did find some tops and brought them home. They smell like her and the house. Every time I go into my closet I smell that and it makes me want to cry. I miss them both so much. Ashton is a doll! I'm going to get 2 new nephews in October. My sister in law is pregnant with twin boys. They already have 2 girls. There's no boys in our family yet lol. Savanna went to her grannys this weekend so Rob and I just lolly gagged around. We played some basketball and threw the softball around yesterday. That was fun. WOW 4 months post for you already. Time does fly. I cant wait to hear what your total is. You are worlds ahead of me. Apparently i'm on a plateau. I hate that word. About that peanutbutter suggestion, are you calorie restricted? I'm supposed to stay below 600 per day and my dietician told me not to eat peanut butter. I was just curious. I see alot of people saying they have it. Anyway, God bless ya Katie! I wish you tons of luck on your dr visit Thursday and cant wait to hear the good news. Melanie

Awww Mellie! I know how that feels - That's one of the reasons I've been avoiding going to michigan. I'm not ready to walk in to my grandparents house and finally let it all in - that he's gone and that smell... ughh! *Big Hugs* About the calories thing - I asked the nurse, Judy on the phone about how many calories I should be eating.... She said 1800 hundard?! I repeated it like 4 times to make sure I heard it right - but that just doesn't seem right to me at all. I'll be asking Dr. Hruska on Thursday though! The peanut butter thing? Hmm ya know my mom brought this to my attention also - They have a friend that stopped eating peanutbutter for like 6 months and lost over 50 pounds. So due to that fact alone - I don't eat it alot, just when I need a change of taste. With that being said - I'm gonna stop buying cheese too! It seems to be high in calories and really not all that great for you either. I swear, this is such a learning process but oh so worth it! Anyhow, are you sure your on a plateau? Are you doing anything differently? Are you walking? Working out? Drinking your water? Getting your protein in? - Sorry for all the questions! Just trying to help! Take Care and keep us updated! -Katie

Hiya Katie and thanks for the hugs! I always need them. My dietician recommends fat free cheese, its a good bit better for you. I was eating cheese and thin sliced deli ham until she made me aware of the 600 calorie max per day thing. Its so easy to rack up 600 cals. And you're dead on with the learning process. Just when I think I know how to eat some other wrench gets thrown in lol. I'm pretty sure about the plateau. I didnt lose at all last week, actually went up 2 pounds but was having my cycle and figured that was it. So far, I still havent lost any more. I've been 208 since atleast the beginning of last week, maybe longer. I'm riding my exercise bike for 30 minutes/10 miles a day, been doing that for 2 weeks. It seems the exercise stops my loss. I drink as much as I can in a day. Yesterday I took in like 85 g of protein. I saw a post yesterday where someone (maybe you lol) said they mix the nectar in with crystal lite. I tried that yesterday and it was soooooo much better. I'm going to try to do that instead of the slimfast shakes cause they have 190 calories and the nectar only has 90 per scoop. I dont know what else to do! Thanks for your advice Katie! You're a sweetheart! Love ya! Melanie (FAT)

Gosh Mellie - Your making me worried about the whole 600 Calories thing! If that's the case for everyone. I'm gonna be SO disappointed on Thursday! I know I eat more then 600 calories, heck slim-fast alone is 200 calories (rounded up)! But I do ahve a question - Will you be able to eat more calories as you get further out of surgery? I mean your about a month and a few weeks - I'm 4 months out. I wonder if that matters at all? Hmm! - This is gonna freak me out until Thursday now! LOL! I still can't believe Judy, the nurse said 1800 calories! WHOO! Anyways, 30 minutes = 10 miles? DAMN! Your good! LOL! I'm only up to 2 miles of walking but slowed down a bit since this whole stomach thing has happened. Heck, my mom won't even let me lift anything! UGH! By the way, I've never tried nectar - I pretty much gave up on buying more protein stuff that tastes like crap! If you buy it, let me know how it tastes! Question though? How much have you lost so far? From the sounds of it - your doing great.... I mean if your comparing yourself to someone like Me, William, or hmm I can't think of anyone else thats my size or his... But since were larger - We'll loss weight faster/or more at a time. Plus, men loss faster then women! Ugh! Talk about NOT FAIR! -Katie
