Hey everyone. I need some information from you posties that have an open RNY. I was wondering how long your recovery time was before you went back to work and could drive yourself some distance. I will be (hopefully) completing an internship that is a 2hour commute both ways and was wondering if it would be possible to get the procedure done in December during the Christmas break and still return to work and driving there within two weeks. Thanks! Susan {!}

I was up and ready to leave way before they relased me from the hospital (4 days post op) My surgeon allowed me to drive after my staples came out (two weeks later) but that is because I didn't take any pain meds once I was released from the hospital. The longer you are on the pain meds the longer before you are given clearance to drive. Hope this helps *huggles*

Hi Susan! This is a good question to ask Dr. Hruska hon - Because everyone is different. Plus when it comes to open ryn patients; from the sounds of it from friends our recovery time is usually a bit longer then lap ryn or lap banding. Good luck and keep us updated! -Katie

thanks for all of the replies. I really want to get this done in December, but if my recovery time is going to be more than a couple of weeks, then I will have to wait until next June when school is over. Susan {!}
