Has anyone heard any more about what's going to happen to existing patients of Dr. Alston? I've had all my tests done and was given the go-ahead for September 22 and I was just wondering what the scoop is now. Tim

I think they are all looking for new surgeons Tim. Have you thought about doing that??? Joe's post says he's going to be Dr. McGrath's patient. Anne

I talked with Dr. Alston's office this past Thursday and was told that Dr. Alston only found out in the past couple of weeks that he has had to take medical retirement from surgery. I asked if I needed to be looking for another doctor and was told that they are working on solutions as quickly as possible. I had my surgery over a year ago and have had a staple line disruption so I need "repaired." I'm so sorry for whatever is going on with Dr. Alston -- he's such a wonderful doctor and the thought of him not being able to repair this surgery is a huge disappointment for me. On the other hand, I do wish there was a little more feedback from them on how they are working towards resolving this... i.e. are they looking for another surgeon to go in practice with him so that maybe he does the initial screenings/followups and someone else does the actual surgery? I have so many questions myself and I feel like every week that passes and every pound I keep gaining from this surgery failure is putting me closer and closer back to where I was. I do hope Dr. Alston is okay and will be able to practice medicine in some capacity - - he's such a gentle and caring man and I hope he does well and we all get resolution to our concerns soon. The last I heard last week was that DR. Alston was gong to be working closely with Dr. Mcgrath and that she would be taking his patients. Call Linda at the office she is most helpful. I feel so sorry for his staff as well, as they will likely all be losoing their jobs too.
